African Academy for the Built Environment

African Academy is one of Africa’s most reputable draughting academies and private technical colleges. It was born out of the need to fill South Africa’s dire shortage in employment and to develop well-trained and highly skilled draughtspersons.

We have been operating for close to three decades, taking a hands-on, practical approach to training our students and preparing them for real-world challenges. Our draughting courses are all-encompassing, covering civil, electrical, and mechanical fields, and homing in on niche skills such as Structural Steelwork Detailing, Architectural Technology, and Piping Draughting.

We pride ourselves in our excellent pass and placement rates, which have both remained at 80% for over two decades. It is our aim to produce high calibre graduates, which is why we are governed by a Board of Directors, an Academic Board, and an Industry Board, to ensure that high standards are met.
