Traincorp Pty Ltd is a FET College based in Meyerton, Gauteng. Traincorp was founded by Hannes Smit in February 2020, and we started our classes in the dining room of a house in Henley-On-Klip. Traincorp is CIPC registered private company.
Traincorp has been accredited by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as an exam centre for the Nated series and an assessments centre for the Occupational Certificate: ECD practitioner. The Quality Council for Trades & Occupations (QCTO) has accredited Traincorp FET College as a Skills Development Provider. Traincorp is an Accredited Trade Test Centre for the electrician trade with NAMB.
How does Traincorp contribute to the training of artisans?
At Traincorp we kickstart the technical career of apprentices. Traincorp co-operates with employers by combining the theoretical and practical training of a new apprentice in a one-year full time program. After one-year full time study at Traincorp, the student has a solid training foundation and we produce a more complete and useful apprentice in his/her specific trade. After completing the compulsory two-year workplace training, students are put through a trade test, which in turn results in him/her being a fully qualified artisan, i.e. “red seal” welder, electrician or plumber.
The students are placed in a position where they have a career patch ahead of them.

How do we teach?
Traincorp is based at the College premises in Meyerton. We are equipped with numerous classrooms and the college also has three workshops/practical training areas. The Electrical, welding and plumbing training workshops are fully equipped according to the requirements of the NAMB trade test standards. This enables Traincorp to train the Occupational Certificate: Electrician, Welder and Plumber and the related skills programmes as well as presenting full trade test preparation training. Our instructors are trade qualified and experienced artisans and teachers.
Occupational Certificate: Electrician, Welder, Plumber & ECD Practitioner:
The Occupational Certificates are presented on site at the Traincorp premises in Meyerton. Obtaining the Occupational Certificate is a three-year process which is divided into theoretical or knowledge modules, practical and then workplace modules. The student commences the process by attending Traincorp FET college on a full-time basis for 12 months. This is followed by 2 years workplace experience after which the student is allowed to complete a full trade test. In the case of the ECD Practitioner, the final summative assessment is done on site at Traincorp premises. It means that the student may qualify as a certified artisan or pre-school teacher after the three-year period. On passing the trade test or final summative assessment, the student receives the Occupational Certificate, issued by QCTO, which is a NQF Level 4 qualification. Trade qualifications also receive a trade test certificate.
The College phase covers the full trade theory as required as well as the practical training. Students are placed at selected and contracted employers/companies for the two year workplace experience. During this phase of their training, students are paid the MERSeta student stipends by Traincorp. Traincorp remains involved with the student during the workplace phase in that the student is issued a work logbook and Traincorp monitors the progress, and the student must finally be declared fit for trade test by Traincorp.
