The International Agricultural Academy for Africa (i3A) is a premier private agricultural training institution deeply committed to solving critical skills shortages and fostering sustainable food security across the African continent. Headquartered in Bloemfontein, South Africa, i3A extends its impact well beyond its central base through a highly flexible digital framework and an expanding footprint of satellite campuses (The Outpost, Agri Innovasie Kollege, Perseverance Landbou Akademie, Wes-Kaap Landbou Akademie, Vine Academy and Model Farm, Agra Namibia) designed to support students throughout South Africa and neighboring SADC countries like Namibia and Botswana. The institution’s roots trace back to 1989 with the establishment of the Umnga Farmers Training Group, which laid the initial foundation for agricultural community development. Recognising the evolving need for advanced, industry-aligned training, the academy was officially founded in its modern form as i3A on July 21, 2015, catalyzed by the success of the Agri-pedia e-learning platform. This evolution enabled the academy to pioneer cutting-edge, industry-driven blended learning programs paired with critical, hands-on field experience. Today, i3A is fully recognised as a quality education provider. Its academic offering includes a premier Bachelor of Agriculture (B.Agric) degree at NQF Level 7, proudly accredited by BA ISAGO University and registered with the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA). Complementing this degree, the academy’s comprehensive vocational qualifications—ranging from National Certificates and National Diplomas in both Animal and Plant Production, as well as Agri Sales and Services and Agricultural Extention (ranging from NQF Level 4 to NQF Level 6) – are fully accredited by the Agricultural Sector Education Training Authority (AgriSETA) and registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) through the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). By offering highly specialised ecosystem academies in areas like poultry, beef, dairy, game and wildlife, goat and mohair, sheep and wool production, i3A empowers the next generation of African farmers with transferable, practical leadership and modern agricultural practices that directly benefit local communities and corporate agri-sectors alike.
