Hoedspruit: the safari capital of SA, citrus and mangoes galore, the Blyde River Canyon, the Kruger National Park, the Big 5, high-end lodges, unparalleled natural beauty… HOME to the Greater Kruger Hotel School & Training Centre (GKHS)!
Our campus is more than a spectacular destination; it’s a one of a kind learning experience. GKHS opened its doors in 2020 on the Moditlo Private Game Reserve – a comfortable 15 min drive to town or our local East Gate Airport (with daily flights from Johannesburg & Cape Town).
At GKHS, we believe that your mindset should be just as sharp as your knife set, and your life skills should be just as crucial as your trade skills. All operations focus on developing 21st-century skills to get our student’s workplace ready and resilient.
We’re accredited with the QCTO, offering an 18 month Commis Chef / Cook programme or a 3-year Chef de Partie programme. In 2022 we’re excited to expand our course offering through Highfield International – keep an eye on our website for our new courses in hospitality.
Our campus values:
Curiosity | Courage | Creativity | Collaboration | Trust
Our Campus Vision:
To create young leaders that turn workplaces into thinking environments to deliver unique dishes and service, served with a side of innovative ideas.
To deliver a new generation of trade students who take responsibility for the quality of their thinking and their relationships.
To create leaders who practice courage over comfort and do not yield to fear and perfection that inhibits learning and growth.
To give students a learning experience at a unique destination that will ignite their curiosity, consciousness, creativity and confidence.
To encourage collaboration through teamwork and participation.
We also offer unique excursions for Consumer Study and / Hospitality learners who are still at school. Teachers can contact us for more info and customized options: from visiting fruit export packhouses to exclusive lodges, game drives, organic farms, our natural wonders and, of course, an interactive culinary lesson in our prac kitchen. Alternatively, anyone is welcome to book a personalized campus tour.
We can’t wait to share the GKHS experience and its unique surroundings with you!
